Chopra, 19 July. In Chopra of Uttar Dinajpur district, local people recently protested against the incident of kidnapping and gang-raping a girl near a secondary pass. A lot of tension is being seen in the Chatragachh area of Chopra police station after this incident. The deceased is identified as Mampi Singh. On Saturday night, some miscreants kidnapped her from her house and took her along with her and massacred her and murdered her body and threw it under a banyan tree near the tea garden. The convenor of Daspada Gram Sabha Committee, Asim Burman, told that the police have been informed about who are involved in the incident. He also said that two bicycles, Aadhar card, two umbrellas and mobile phones have been recovered from where the body of the student was found. Along with this, he said that these items found from the incident, will help the police reach the culprits. Didi Pulu Das of the deceased student told that her sister was missing since last night. He was searched overnight and in various places this morning, during which time his body was found under a banyan tree near the tea garden. He accused her of murdering her sister after gang-raping her and throwing the body under the banyan. On the other hand, villagers today protested by blocking the National Highway against this inhuman incident and demanding punishment for the culprits. The protesters stalled traffic by burning tires on the road. At the same time, these people said that until the arrest of the accused, their protest will continue. Police has started investigating the incident.
