In fact, Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat has announced on Friday that Uttarakhand will have its first international airport in Pantnagar. Till now only small aircraft were operated from Pantnagar Airport whereas after the new airport was built, big passenger planes like Boeing / Airbus can also be operated from here.
Please tell that Pantnagar Airport located in Udham Singh Nagar is an important airport of Uttarakhand in Kumaon division. Due to the specific geographical location and proximity to tourist places, this airport is very useful for the movement of travelers and tourists. Currently there are 500 to 600 buildings around Pantnagar Airport and a population of 5 thousand to 6 thousand is living, due to which it is not possible to expand it. In such a situation, the land of Pantnagar University has been selected from various options of land for the construction of new green field airport. The option of 1072 acres of land has been found to be technically suitable in the report of Pre-feasibility survey provided by Airport Authority of India after inspections.
With the new airport, air services will start for other cities of the state as well as abroad, Dehradun, Pithoragarh. Due to the construction of this airport, the time taken to travel from the hill state will also be reduced significantly. This airport will be built in about 1100 acres of land. Construction of a runway is proposed in the first phase, while it will be expanded in the second phase. The airport is proposed to be expanded in two phases. After the second phase, this airport will cater to the needs of regional air traffic for 50 years.
According to Secretary Tourism Dilip Javalkar, this airport to be built in Pantnagar will be equipped with modern facilities, where adequate parking is being arranged, on the other hand, maximum passenger amenities will be ensured in the airport. The report also suggested to build the airport through PPP mode or JVC. Tourism Secretary Dilip Javalkar said that according to the report of Pre-feasibility Survey by Airport Authority of India and the report of District Magistrate Udham Singh Nagar, 1072 acres of land of Pantnagar Agricultural University near Bareilly-Nainital State Route 37, Civil Aviation Department should be made Greenfield Airport Is proposed
