Government approved 4 pilot projects for agarbatti workers and business people

new Delhi: The Ministry of Micro and Small Industries has taken a big step to increase agarbatti business and reduce imports in this sector.

Under the Village Industries Development Scheme, the government has approved four pilot projects, including one for the North East State.

Under this scheme, the government will provide 10 agarbatti making machines as well as mixing machines to the workers in each identified cluster.
The MSME Ministry will give a total of 200 incense sticks making machines and mixing machines to artisans.

The Khadi commission under the MSME ministry will also provide training to incense sticks artisans.

Recently, the government had taken two decisions to encourage the sector more and to reduce imports –

Under the import policy, incense sticks have been removed from the ‘free trade’ category and kept in the restricted or restricted category.

The government increased the import duty on round bamboo stick required for making incense sticks from 10% to 25%.

Through the pilot project, the government hopes that 500 additional employment opportunities will also be created.
