Gopalganj: Bihar Several villages of Baikunthpur block have been inundated due to the breaking of the embankment of the Gandak river in Gopalganj district of K. The villagers are facing serious challenges of flood disaster.

During this, the team rescued 31 people trapped in the flood by running a rescue operation. Commandant Vijay Sinha said that, due to the sudden flooding of the river Gandak in the village of Savalia, these people were sheltered on the roofs of different houses under adverse conditions and faced the tough challenge of flood disaster.
He said that women, children and old people were included in these. The rescue operation was conducted very carefully by NDRF personnel from 11:45 am to about 4:00 am in coordination with the district administration. In this night operation, 10 women, 12 children and 9 men trapped in trouble were evacuated from the submerged village with the help of GPS, head lamps, search lights and rescue boats.
Commandant Sinha said that till now, NDRF teams have been running rescue operations in Bihar’s flood-hit East Champaran, West Champaran, Gopalganj, Supaul, Darbhanga and Saran districts and have evacuated about 4,900 people in trouble. At present, 21 teams of NDRF are deployed in 12 districts of Bihar state with 102 rescue boats.
