Bengaluru: A court in Belagavi district of Karnataka has issued a summons to Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa (CM BS Yediyurappa) for the alleged violation of the model code of conduct during the by-election held last year. The court ordered a criminal case and The Commissioner of Police of Bengaluru has been directed to issue summons against the Chief Minister. A reply has been sought on this summon till September 1, 2020.
Let us know that during an election rally at the Valmiki Stadium in Gokak on November 23 last year, Yeddyurappa, while campaigning in favor of the BJP candidate, appealed to the Veerashail Lingayat community not to distribute votes. A case was later registered.
The police had filed a closure report but Gokak’s Principal Judicial Magistrate (First Class) Viresh Kumar CK dismissed it.
The court said, ‘In this case the court has understood that’ B ‘is final for hearing the proceedings against the accused and for the offense punishable under Section 123 (3) of the Representative Act and Section 171 (F) of the IPC. There is enough material in the report.
