Malda: On Monday, members of BJP’s Mahila Morcha protested in the blockade of the national highway against the increasing oppression of women across the state, including the Chopra scandal. Mahila Morcha members took out a protest rally from the BJP office in Malda today. The rally revolved around various routes of the city. BJP MP from North Malda, Khagen Murmu, District President Govind Chandra Mandal, Zilla Parishad member Sagarika Sarkar and other top BJP leaders and a large number of activists participated in the protest. On this occasion, BJP leaders said that the issue of female harassment in the state is constantly increasing. In Chopra, a tenth pass student was allegedly murdered after being raped. He said that a protest rally was organized by the Mahila Morcha today to demand the arrest of the accused in the student murder case and to stop the ongoing female harassment across the state. The leaders of the Mahila Morcha said that the accused escapes with the help of the ruling party. The police administration sits silently watching the spectacle. Today, the rally of Mahila Morcha took out from the BJP office Purnatoli Dam Road area and circled the various routes of the city and reached the Rathbadi area of the city and blocked the number 34 National Highway. Here, on receiving the news of stoning, the police of the English market station reached the spot and started blocking the blockade. Mahila Morcha district president Sutpa Mukherjee said that today the case of female harassment is increasing in the entire state. Atrocities on women, rape of them are increasing continuously. The culprits are not being arrested. After the rape, the victim is being burnt somewhere and then she is being strangled to death. Somewhere the evidence is erased after rape. BJP MP from North Malda Khagen Murmu said that a protest rally was taken out by the Mahila Morcha today on various demands, including atrocities on women, arrest of Chopra accused. On the other hand, District Trinamool Congress general secretary Shubhamay Basu strongly criticized the BJP accusing the BJP of giving political color to any event.
